AP’s Northwood Big Local group finalises community plans

Plans are nearly in place for our Northwood Big Local group in London, who met last week to finalise the vision and profile for community development in their area, and agree a partnership recruitment process. Our Big Local reference group in the area (pictured), is made up from residents and public sector, and has £1 million to spend on supporting the local community. AP director Tim Slack is the group’s Big Local rep, and they’re pictured here meeting Merseyside Community Foundation to talk about finance support arrangements.

The group also visited the House of Commons for the launch of the third wave of Big Local projects, and has been celebrating the success of the Unltd Entrepreneur programme, designed to support to social entrepreneurs in the UK, whose ventures are firmly rooted in delivering positive social change. It invests directly in individuals and offering a complete package of resources from Awards of funding, to ongoing advice, networking and practical support.

AI has been a key part of our process with the Northwood residents, and will also be used as part of the partnership selection process. Appreciating People acts as rep to seven communities involved in the Big Local programme, in areas including Clubmoor, Liverpool, Windmill Hill Halton, Leigh West Wigan, Colleyhurst Manchester, St Oswalds, Sefton, Clarkfield, Greenacres and Littlemoor Oldham. Tim says: ‘They’re a great bunch of residents, working together to make a difference and moving Big Local forward.
