As representatives for Local Trust we support residents in 7 neighbourhoods – pictures show residents of Big Local areas engaging in training and conversations.

AP’s Big Local project grew out of the work we’d done on the Connecting Communities programme, which you can read about here. The Clarksfield, Greenacres and Littlemore group continued to meet after being introduced as part of the project, and took on the mantle of Big Local in their area.

The group is committed to doing something to improve its local area, using an approach that focuses on assets (rather than problems), and the benefits of bringing as diverse a group together as possible, and Appreciative Inquiry sits very naturally with them. AP is involved in the training, facilitating and support of the group, which is also supported by the local PCT, which is part of the steering group.

The Oldham project is the subject of a monthly blog on the Guardian website, which you can read here.
