The Number Ones were working boatmen who owned their boats on the waterways of England and wakes. Today, over 2,000 miles of these waterways are protected by the Canal & River Trust.
Number One is a guide to discovering and understanding the rich history of our waterways and their contribution to our world. It is a chance to learn more about the people who built and maintained them; how they lived and worked on the boats and canals.
Number One also includes a wealth of personal activities that will spark your curiosity and learning and help you notice new things on your journey of discovery.
